Missal Pav


1 cup moth sprouts 

1 tbsp Oil

¼ tsp asafoetida (Hing)

1 tsp mustard Seeds 

8-10 curry leaves

1 medium Onion finely chopped

1/2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste 

¼ tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp red chili powder

1 tbsp goda masala

Salt to taste 

1 tsp lemon juice 

½ cup Haldiram’s Mixture 

4-5 fresh coriander sprigs

Serve with pav


  • Heat oil in a deep non-stick pan. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter. Add asafoetida and curry leaves and let curry leaves crackle. 
  • Add ½ of chopped onion, reserving the remaining or topping and sauté till translucent. Add turmeric powder and ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 1 minute. 
  • Add chilli powder and sauté. Add goda masala and mix. Add moth sprouts and salt and mix well. 
  • Add 2 cups water, mix, cover and cook on medium heat for 10 minutes. Reduce heat and add haldiram mixture and cook for 2 minutes. 
  • Garnish with Haldiram’s Mixture on top and coriander leaves.
  • Serve with pav.
